This was brought up in another topic..

Some.... Think most.... mistakenly refer to ALL early style (the common pre 64) Beetle license plate light housings as "The Popes Nose"..
The Popes nose ended in 1952..

1953-57 styles are slightly different but share similar attributes as 58-63

It was mentioned ...

I agree it's high time to name that light!
It could also have a name like bus parts have (fried eggs, ham slice, etc.)

So in keeping with the nicknamed notion.. what nickname should be for the 58-63 (early 64 and non Deluxe Standard newer variations).
I dont want to leave any year out.. Rolling Eyes so the topic title fits the most common use of the lamp style.

"Cocks Beak"
"Decks Beak"
"Beaker"

"Jimmy's Schnoz" Laughing

I too think of it as "the beak"

Other considerations; bill, spout, nib, spike

I will resist the urge to offer another, more sophomoric, suggestion for what it looks like. Although, that would be fun to see selling in the classifieds... Shocked

Just ''fudge it" and call it a pope's nose also. Very Happy

Looks kinda like the real pop's nose, so who cares.

With the old Ford truck I drive it has the older ''stepside'' box. Technically it's a "Flareside" box which people always like to point out. Only Chevies can be called "stepsides" according to them. But the name sticks much to some people's chagrin. Laughing
