Anyone local in Nor Calif who has a snail sync tool to help tune carbs?
My pressure is low, using a carter electric pump, showing around 1psi. No change when turning the adjustment bolt on the Holley regulator, so will replace it, but also getting some pops from one of the carbs which may have gotten out of sync during install of new motor.
Let me know if you can help. |

Where are you, and what carbs? I'm not a huge expert, but may be able to help, or at least have a look.

Is NAG still around? https://www.facebook.com/NAGVW/
They used to have a meeting the second Friday of the month in Pleasanton at the In and Out Burger. |

Dublin is a bit far to swing by without planning, but maybe we can plan a small meet.
1psi won't do it, you need closer to 3psi. I have Carter pumps on Beetle with 40IDFs with a Holley regulator, and on Fastback with ICTs without a regulator. It should work fine without a regulator, maybe your fuel line or sock in gas tank are clogged?

I am also running webers.
I have new Holley FPR and will install this week to see if I can get a better read on pressure. Given the rain this week, I'll coordinate a time to meet the following week. |

BLTN is still sorta active. I haven't gone to the meets regularly in years due to my work. usually 3-10 guys still show up sometimes. It is certainly not what it used to be however. _________________ 67 bug x3

I wouldn't mind meeting up sometimes. I remember your bus from BLTN meets. I haven't gone since 2007, I was out of it for a while.

Solved the carb problem, now a different issue.
Carbs 3 and 4 had no response to accelerator using snail sync. Took the idle jets out, cleaned them and reinstalled. That solved the problem. Idle was smooth, air flow to carbs were at 6 on sail sync and both sets of carbs respond to accelerator equally.
After about 3 minutes of idling can hear small pops in the exhaust. Noticed the fuel pressure dropped to zero from 3psi. Took gas cap off to check for pressure in tank, none there.
Using the Cb performance electric pump with holley fuel pressure regulator.
Clogged screen at gas tank? Fuel filter just outside of tank is clean. |

You can put one of those clear filters in line before your pressure gauge and carbs, if you are not getting fuel you'll see it. Check the sock. I've also run a throttle cable through hardline after the tank to make sure there is no gunk.
