Finally got around to installing my Transawn on my Bay Window. Bought brackets from the above mentioned Eezi Awn dealer. Plan to fab a third mount for center myself, after seeing them in person. Mine doesn't interfere with slider operation and is a breeze to open, set-up, etc. Love it.,,

Our case rubs on the slider if I have the unit slanted down a good deal (to shed rain). The front door seal will rub just a hair, too. It all comes down to how you mount it to the brackets... A little attention on my part solves the problem so I haven't been motivated to fix it.
Oh, and I spent $50 on mine (pulled out of a barn in the middle of nowhere) and feel like I overpaid compared to some of you. Canvas was worn but has taken 10 more yrs of use without a worry.
Now to just find a replacement rivet/pin for the foot... |

I have no problems with the case rubbing the slider on my Bay at all. I have heard from a few other Vanagon owners of the problem though. As you mentioned must be how some mount them.
As far as the pin/rivet on foot. Can you find anything locally to you at say a hardware store? _________________ 1979 Westfalia Deluxe http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=474334&highlight=iowa |

Finally got around to installing the Bus Depot awning enclosure panels:
I didn't like the way the sides attached to the front, so I added zippers at the two corners. I also added welting along the top of the front panel to slide into the accessory track. The sides are bit long for the 8' awning, but it's not a big deal (sides are simply clipped onto the awning fabric). Still need to work on making a side skirt for the van, but overall this will be a good lightweight enclosure for warm-weather trips (as opposed to the bulky, heavy-ass, great-for-winter enclosure that came with the van).
Anyway, if any other TA2000 owners are wanting a screen enclosure, the Bus Depot EZY-Awning panels are an option. _________________ ~Kamz

My Transawn was probably opened and used only a few times in its life and in good shape with all instructions. I notice the rivets on the closing clasps like to rub on the awning material so I have to do something to protect those buggers from cutting into my awning !
I am curious if anyone has or made any of the vehicle brackets for the extension poles to clip in to, rather than stake them into the ground.
Or even better, if you don't use yours or want them or know where I can source some, I would entertain a purchase for them.
I'd rather the poles attach to the van than staked in the the ground for certain circumstances.

Perhaps this has been mentioned already, but I believe Transawn became Dometic at some point. I have bought parts for mine from dometic.
My van is pretty trashed looking on the outside, even the outside of the awning housing, but the awning itself is in perfect shape! |

Trans-Awn 2000 is the name of the awning. A&E is the brand, a division of the Dometic Corporation... at least, in 1989 that's the way it was:
FWIW, I no longer use the cam straps when deployed to keep the tray off the doors (straps are getting worn and not holding well):
I had chain left over from another project, so made one of these for each end (2nd owners had conveniently drilled small holes at each end of the case tray for me to use):
They work splendidly. _________________ ~Kamz

Hunh. My awning doesn't interfere with the slider at all. _________________ '84 Vanagon GL 1.9 WBX

If you have the OEM TransAwn mounts, a couple of washers between the faces in the front raises the gutter quite a bit. _________________ '84 Vanagon GL 1.9 WBX

There's a handful of TA's that will rub the door, for whatever reason (I've been contacted by a few owners with the same issue). Mine was installed with the 45° brackets rather than the 90° brackets; even shimmed with thick felt pads to tilt the case back a bit doesn't help. Second owners, way back in 2001, drilled the holes for their own "hold-up" method. The new chains install in seconds as the case is opened so it's not that big of a deal; in fact, they're faster than the straps. _________________ ~Kamz

Ditto! Anyone? Just heard back from Dometic and the bracket in question, Part 830106, has been obsolete since 12/2/97.
I get a hold of this though...https://www.scamptrailers.com/images/pdfs/Dometic_Catalina_2500_PartsList.pdf

I have them on my van. I'll post of photos of them later. AFAIK, those little brackets aren't available anywhere, so they'll have to be reproduced. Or, it's possible the Fiamma version might work:
