You are surely not the first to have to go back and tear stuff apart to put that piece of tin in, been there/done that.

heck, I spent an hour sitting behind the bus trying to figure how to attach the transmission to the rearwards facing flywheel side. I even turned the motor sideways but it still wouldn't fit. Then someone told me that in German the front side of a VW motor means the back side but all that did was make me turn around and look at the street instead of the back of the bus. Have you ever tried to install a motor using mirrors ... .
