That's wrong. Here's an ad from the samba showing what the rear clip should look like. Note the attachment area for the bumper brackets. Welcome to the world of one year only 67 VWs. in my opinion you're better off using metal from a donor bug.

Well now that I've seen a correct one it is obvious that it's different but if it's universal I'll use it cause I own it (the return option expired last week). Besides no one can see it I guess it works unless I find a cheap right one at a swap meet or something. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

So yesterday I decided to try stipping back the white paint using jasco acetone. All it did was shine the paint so I tried to use stripper out of a spray can. It worked but I decided to not strip the white because I would need to blend four new fenders so I'm just going to repair it.

Update!!!!!! Today I adjusted the valves and carb. Still doesn't run great anyway... Can I just patch these heater channels and I'm also just gonna pitch the floor. The engines a 71 block with 67 parts on it ( I don't think I said that already). Also, can I take the top part of the seats and make them locking like the late 67 style.
Is there anyway to learn more about the car from this plate
Here's the extent of the rust on the bumper mounts

So today I patched one of three of the major areas that need patches. It was the battery tray.
My question still remains about the seats though. Can I make them the locking type from mid to late 67 or should I hunt for the right seat backs.

Just bought a sapphire v on Craigslist! It was a steal and was only $10!!!
It needs new rubber knows a faceplate and dash spacer but it was so cheap I couldn't resist.

A few days ago I put on the new bumper mounting points. Here's one side
I cleaned that up and sprayed some undercoating over it. Also, today I received a package from Wolfsbürg West. I got seat covers, paint, seat pads, and some felt. Here's a picture of the whole car, I haven't put one up yet

My heater channels looked similar to yours . You can't patch. You should just replace them while the car is disassembled. My pans weren't that bad and could of been patched but I put new ones in. Here's some before and after photos. I was thinking this was going to take me 6 or 7 months of free time but I ran into a 6 week delay trying to get the door to close the correct way. I'm into about 5 months now.

Yea I have the tops to the channels and thought about putting tubes from the hardware store in to them. It's not a show car more of a driver. I don't really want to take the body off the chassis either. Knowing that I have the top panels to the channels, can I just put tubes inside it? I'd like to replace the whole channels but it doesn't really seem necessary to make them perfect in my opinion. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

Your channels look gone to me. Your heater channels do double duty as rocker panels that are major support to the body. I'm doing my build probably like you. I'm not doing a full restore / paint job.In fact I'll probably just use rattle can paint for the metal I replaced that is visible Basically just the heater channels, pans and the metal that connects to the channels. |

Yea I'm similar I want to do a partial restoration basically. I'm getting it painted and will probably now just replace the channels. Other than that I'm just patching parts like the bumper mounts and floors. Right now I'm trying to get some 67 seats. It will be nice but not a concours car at all. It will be as close to stock as I can get for now.
EDIT: I still would like to know if my dash has been cut. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

Yes I have watched his videos I'll probably use hog rings. Right now I'm considering paint too because after the heater channels the paint will be soon. It's either going to be white or black with red interior. I read in the technical section that white with red was a 67 option. Is this correct? _________________ '67 Beetle L41

I've been looking into painting with Rustoleum white ,sprayed with my old style Binks gun . the consensus seems to be that the tractor supply paint doesn't hold up and looses it's gloss . _________________ 63 two fold rag

I'm not looking for what type of paint but more the color. I'm looking at either lotus white or black. The technical section says those were both options that had a red interior in 1967. Is it correct that white could of had a red interior? _________________ '67 Beetle L41

I got the body off sort of. It's on wood pieces sitting on the tires. One heater channel is removed and the firewall is going to be patched soon. I got a pan to body seal from cip1 in but I don't think it has holes for the body bolts, is that normal? _________________ '67 Beetle L41
