Well, I can forget making it to the Painters Grinding show Saturday. Broke the exhaust bolt on the passenger side front while swapping the bad gadgets out.

Damn buddy, sorry to hear that. Not such a bad fix if you have a right angle drill. I bet the trip there would have been good, maybe you could have found someone to help you with your carb, distro combo. _________________ __________

Appreciate the sympathy and I was going to do just that Rich "hey, any advice on this funky setup?" to whom ever would listen...
Was wondering if the weather would hold and I guess not. _________________ In search of a Vanagon

hey fellow COers...
we've moved into a new shop in Lakewood and, while we mostly deal with water-cooled VWs, I was kicking around the idea of throwing an informal VW BBQ some Saturday in July and possibly somewhat regularly after that. We've got a big lot and plenty of room for people to show off their rides.
Any interest from the front range locals? _________________ -------

I'd go, as long as it was not on the tour dates. VW's,beer, and Chubby's mexican chow will get me to fight Denver traffic. Rural living spoils ya after a few years. The Painter's event will crash into The VOG show, joys of spring weather. _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

Well after 30 plus years of ownership my Bus finally gets into the shop for rust repair, rebuilt engine, new 1/2 shafts (with NOS cv's!!), and rattle can paint job. Here is the "before" many of you know this hard working ex-Adventure wagon.

This is what really pushed me to address the issues. Minor beam rust starting. The beam is still OG , I've been religious about greasing it , its the last original part of the drivetrain. This will be engine #11 ( on transmission number 3),

Front bumper has never been off!! It still has the correct emblem behind the spare tire carrier. I'm thinking of relocating the spare behind the driver's seat. I use the back area too much to have a tire in the way. The bean repair went well (pic tomorrow) and we cut out the lower rot today (usual places, dog legs, outer rockers, bottom of nose). I have OG for some and a bit Gerson for the rest. This is not intended to be a show bus.

I hope my new engine will be as quite and dependable as this last one (which was a combo of 3 dead engines lying about the shop.. hey went 70K before line bore failure). This is the first decent engine I have ever put in the Bus. I bought the Bus in 1985!!! It had over 300K miles on it when I got it (PO had documents from day one..sadly they got ruined in a basement flood). It's had some periods of broken speedometer so I'm not sure of the exact mileage, pushing 700K. I have driven this Bus a great deal and worked it hard _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |
