Best Cruising RPMs for Cooling on Highway

This isn't about cooling but I have experienced that with stock sized pulleys I start throwing belts around 6700 RPM running down the drag strip. I've experienced this on several engines in both my Ghia and Dunebuggy. I can race down the 1/4 track shifting 6400 and never throw a belt. I have only had one fan failure, but have thrown several belts till I realized their limits. I have run the race car with a power pulley to 7000 without loosing a belt.

there may be another issue. plenty of stock sized pully motors get buzzed up without throwing belts.I personaly have never thrown a belt under 9200 rpm.
