Speedometer Cable Questions

I have a '76 Camper with the EGR box inline with the speedo cable. I'm pretty sure something inside the box has broken as I no longer have a funtional speedometer. My Question is 1. is it repairable? 2. should i repair it? and 3. if not, how to bypass it (without getting an older style cable)? Thank you for your input i've been using my phone as a GPS speedometer and it works great but i'd like to have my speedometer working again.

you either buy a used box or get the long early cable. No one I know of makes an adapter that holds the two cables together. Those boxes are a dime a dozen in classifieds.
