Looks awesome Paul.
Looks like some recent work to the garage door too. Hope the bus isn't stuck. |

Greg, I put the rack on the bus and backed the bus up to the door. The rear of the rack cleared, but as I started pushing the bus in, the front of the rack was about 2" too high. So I let some air out of all four tires and pushed it into the garage. What a pain, but less work than taking the rack on and off. _________________ SOUTHERN INTEGRITY AIRCOOLERS

Yeah, I'd sooner swap over a set of 14" rollers then mess with the rack coming off and on. Time to build a new shop! Make the door high enough for a high roof with a loaded rack. |

I have this same problem in my garage at home too. Glad I'm not alone, lol |

A buddy of mine sent me this pic he found on the world wide web. He pointed out the bus behind the carousel.
This is the first time I have seen an early Westy with just the beltline painted. _________________ SOUTHERN INTEGRITY AIRCOOLERS

Very possible your bus, maybe one of one? How cool would that be. Like the FCG Westy I have never seen another like yours either. _________________ Brandon |

I just discovered this thread.
Wow! What admirable dedication to correctly restoring a very historically significant bus!
It is beautiful!
Hope that you still have it and use it

Thank you. I do still have it and we going camping in it. Not as often as I would like, but we do enjoy it. _________________ SOUTHERN INTEGRITY AIRCOOLERS

I love it when these amazing camper restorations come back up, even though it kills a big chunk of time b/c I will read the whole thing again.
Great to see it in use! |

One of my favorite campers, I had it as a desktop image for years. I love how the red just pops out of it. I think it was asked several years ago as to the color scheme but I forgot, is it an original Westy combo for 1956 including the wheels and press bumpers zuggbug? I have often thought of improving my boring pearl white Westy with it but I couldn't live with the criticism

Have you considered simply starting with a nicer bus? I don't know what your skills are, but the race is easier if you can see the finish line. If you are not a runner, don't start off doing a marathon. |
