Weekend trip to "Ancient Lakes" in central Washington (about 3 miles N of the Gorge Amphitheater). Not a lot of other campers around, it was nice. It rained like heck and the next day the MTB trails (in the the valley below) were perfect.
Next night in the Met-How valley near Robinson Creek trail.

Recent thread about information on the Owyhee motivated me into posting a few photos from a trip in May of 2013.

Somewhere between Gordon Gultch and Sugarloaf mnt last weekend (north of Nederland, CO) in dispersed camping
natural leveling blocks
'Haul that tote!'
great views 50ft up the hill from camp.
Fun getting there, and gave some other backwoods campers a show climbing a steep muddy section of fire road.
Off to WY this weekend, through some backwoods routes. Should be good fun exploring! _________________ sold -> '85 Wolfsburg Syncro / 'Built' DOHC EJ25 (a great machine!)

So as promised - Wyoming adventuring for fathers day!
We started up the Poudre canyon, outside of Ft Collins CO. Near the top is CR10 that heads due north into WY. It descends and soon you are here
obstacle #1 (this guys didn't move a muscle as we slowly passed)
Then we were in WY (horses on road and WIND - )
Soon we were off dirt roads and onto trails
Our destination was the snowy range, which is super scenic and beautiful, but mother nature had other plans
seeing as we couldn't make it to the open high country fields of the snowy range (photo from previous trip)
we turned down a less than frequently traveled trail.
And started moving trees
A few trees later, the dried beetle kill jousted my washer tank.... I was glad it wasn't coolant! When I replace the tank I'll add a small steel (or AL) cover for the tank.
Some mud (had to use sand ladders to get free)
We made camp
This mans priorities - A beautiful woman and a 4x4 van in the wilderness
Oh - we saw this on the way out (in the metropolis of Albany WY)
holy hell that thing was big and BURLEY. He had some nice WY pin-striping though, so he's using it!
Van was amazing as usual - what a little beastie! _________________ sold -> '85 Wolfsburg Syncro / 'Built' DOHC EJ25 (a great machine!)

Fraser CO - dispersed camping and biking last weekend.
that mud hole is deeper than it looks
A really nice site, right in the middle of many bike trails/loops
And we ran into a 4x4 low top, pop top Sprinter in town.

So it turns out that my girlfriend owns 40 acres of wilderness that more or less takes 4wd to get into. She hasn't been there in 5 years because her A3 isn't up to the task. We fixed that problem this weekend with the syncro. I took lots of van porn pics in two days. More from this weekend here: https://www.facebook.com/dan.barnett.568/media_set...nref=story

Made a quick overnight to West Mag, outside of Nederland CO for some biking and mnt air.
One of my favorite spots up there, right at the start of the 'School Bus' mnt bike trail which passes an old school bus at a mining camp, and two abandoned mines.
sweet view too
Westy life engrained in my kids
A bit of a steep, loose, and loopy climb to get up there with some 3-wheeled action - no issues for the syncro though
