Hey 23window.

I'm in Southfield! Would you PM me contact information for the local craftsmen responsible for the work that was done?

The craftsmen are all around the world, the car has never been in Michigan, although it's heading east as we speak. Most of them you will find right here, the most helpful of any of the forum groups.

The bodywork and paint was performed by Bob Miller and myself, in Arizona, where I'm located.

The door panels, top chrome, VW nose emblem, Karmann Ghia script, front hood hardboard and seat welt......all by Jerry Heldt and Kevin Ferguson in Australia

The convertible top, headliner, seats and carpet by Chris Hawkins at VIP interiors again in Arizona

Thanks to Jerry and Kevin......absolutely awesome detail.

Fantastic job Douglas, the car looks impressive. I know I can speak for Jerry when I say we are delighted that we had a chance to contribute to such a wonderful restoration, its great to see these pieces in place on the finished project.
Kev.

Thanks Kevin!!! The pieces are absolutely the "icing on the cake"

BTW, I'll be in Sydney at the end of the month.....tell Jerry I'm buying if you guys have time Laughing

Thanks for the invite Doug - but Kev and I are about 4000miles the other side of the Country.
Kev was right when he said it was a privilege being a small part of a resto like that - YOU have done a fantastic job putting that car back together.Even if it happens just once in your life, it makes it worthwhile when you meet a Client who wants their car the way it left the Factory.A great part of the reason We were able to help is because of Maurelio Gabrielli, GABS to His friends. I would put His car up there with yours - its the Graphite silver ID 91 on Patriks List - Gabs is one of those dream Clients who says "I want it done correctly -if you cannot buy the parts, then make them" that's how we were able to contribute.
If you are ever able to get to Perth on the West Coast,(aka The Garden of Eden) We will look after You

Jerry

What you have there is a Pebble Beach 18th Green Show Ghia Applause
It is utterly impossible to think of any words to describe how wonderful your Ghia is. It is hand down the most stunning example out there.

This car sold last weekend in LA, CA at an art/furniture auction. I had not seen the car since the restoration was completed approx 9 years ago. Since I was in the area for the OCTO show in Long Beach, I stopped by to see how well its held up. Quite well indeed!

Do we dare ask what it sold for Doug?
