I have a case that was cleaned and bored for 90.5 cylinders. Unfortunately, the machine shop found some corrosion around the bores. Am I right to assume this case is garbage now since the cylinders won't seal correctly?

It'll seal fine, why wouldn't it? None of that damage connects a point from inside the engine to the outside, and you're going to use sealant anyway. I've always used silicone in this area of the engine, but nowhere else!

I'd run it. It is not in a pressurized oil stream so the silicone will do it's job and seal it up.

Thanks for the input! That turned my day around. I'll move forward as planned.

Whoever did that must have a pretty sharp flycutter for it to clean up that good, looking at it beforehand I bet you didn't think it would turn out that clean. Laughing

matta, very good work with your photos- sharp, well lit. Wish I could reach thru the computer and run my fingers lightly over the machined surfaces.
