Passenger door mirror removal

I'm trying to remove my side mirror and I think the nut welded to the inside of the door broke off. Is there anyway to reach it without complete door disassembly? 76 westy

Can't remember if you can do it with the glass in or not. IIRC You will have to drop the glass to the bottom of the door.

Sometimes you can use a door handle removal or panel removal tool to pry and put enough pressure on the nut to keep it from turning, but be careful if you have good paint. A rivnut may solve the reinstallation problem, but may require a larger hole.
