This is much better-- As long as I'm here-- Does anyone know if the vertical piece of tin that runs from head to head at the flywheel end of the motor is any different on a bug than on a bus? I seem to have a large gap at the body at the flywheel end even with the seal in place. Thought that the PO might have switched it at one time? The mounts are all tight and the transmission shifts fine , so I don't think engine alignment is a problem.

That peice of tin is unique to a bus 68-71. Sounds like you have a bug one instead of the taller bus tin.
