What would be wrong with using shoulder bolts? Looks like they would be just as good and easy to use and a lot cheaper.

Apparently no one has any idea about using shoulder bolts in place of rivets. I went today and bought 3/8"x3/8" shoulder bolts. The shoulder is a little bit longer and have to use a washer. 3/8" is also a little bigger diameter than the rivets I took out which are 10mm so I drilled the hole out to 3/8". The extra length won,t hurt any place except maybe, just maybe where flat rod goes right next to where the front and rear section go together, in photo. If it does interfere there I can cut off and if that isn't enough I can use a shear nut and cut threads off even a little more and I know it will clear then. Oh BTW 10 shoulder bolts $11.40

IMHO you should swap out the nuts for nylocks.

I've always been a little dubious of that method of reinforcing the frame. It essentially makes the hinges into sacrificial components.
