I just bought a rail and researched engine code. It is a 1970 Type 3 motor that originally had fuel injection. Buggy was running rough and would not idle. I discovered someone put a 30 PICT-1 carb on it. I was told a 34 pict-3 is best for dual port manifold so I bought one. It runs better but not perfect.

My concerns are I have no vac hoses connected (nothing to hook them to) and to keep it idling I had to back out quite a few turns on the bypass and volume screws about 8 to 10 turns which is well past the factory 2 to 3 turns. If I set them to factory it wont run. I checked timing and it is good I think. It has an aftermarket pulley with nothing but a painted mark someone put on there. but I do plan to upgrade my 009 dist. to electronic ignition. I think something else is wrong, any suggestions?
