My pictures and pole sets make them look mixed.
My 73 poles are gold with the early back door
The other tents and poles I have are mix match
The " window" with no screen is for access to install the tent not a window for ventilation.
None of the above is absolute but observation. |
How do you know your 73 is a 73? Is it stamped? Or it just came in your 73? _________________

Yes just referring to it as it came.
To keep it sorted in reference. Still need to check for stamps. |

Instructions from 1973 model and parts list for terminology.
note: another difference is the catch at center of canopy differs from early to late

Anyone know no replacement parts for Westy tents? Mine is missing two blue rubber stake holders and some adjustable strings with clips _________________ Gas, Grass or Ass ? No one rides to the show for free!! |

Gotcha brother - post up that stamp when and if its there when you look
bustedtype2 search under "tent" in the classifieds. There are steak bags with the stuff you need - but they are pricey and usually not a piece or two like you want.
The rubber ring - yeah you are not the only one - but same place. Sometimes people list parts.
I have 3 of these tents. I recently set up my worst of the bunch. Eventually I will just cut it up. Make a jacket - jackets out of the material Have me a real Westfalia Jacket. Its got some issues and I don't feel like chasing down poles. So with that it will lend lots of these parts people need. Like the rubber steak loops, hangers for the frame and so on. _________________

Keep me in mind brother.
I was just at El Prado and found a set of poles for the Westy tent. Gold. But missing the awning poles. $200 for all. Same guy wanted $500 for Westy sink. Lol _________________ Gas, Grass or Ass ? No one rides to the show for free!! |

Interesting. Mine have gold poles, rubber stake holders and small door in the back. Strange they would put a window in the back with no mesh. Wonder why?

Just FYI, you are connecting the plastic hooks to the poles wrong. They will break the way you have it set up. Take a good look at notchboys photos and see how he has looped the black plastic hook around to connect back to the tent and not hooking the black hooks around the poles.

We found this tent, date stamped Sept 1970 at a yard sale 2 weeks ago and used it at VolksFest this past weekend. Awesome tent. I also made the mistake of attaching it wrong on the poles but fixed that once it was pointed out.

Ahh, I spoke with you! Good to meet you. I was helping Scott set up his next to the gazebo when we spoke. Nice yard sale score.
Here was my set up during Volksfest.

Oh yeah that thing is sweet. It looks like a lighter material than mine. In the BW pics its bright on the inside wall as if its letting light in through the fabric. My tent is thick like carhartt jacket canvas.
Yours looks a bit different too. _________________

Here's a couple of pics of mine in the past few weeks.
Here set up at the Four Corners Folk Fest in Pagosa Springs, Co. We were there for 5 days and it rained like hell for 2 of them. The tent was great to have, dry as a bone in it.
Here's one from last week at the Jerome Jamboree in Az.

Alman72 - I guess mine is the same? Did you see any differences? And does yours have the bag?

yes, 3 actually. large white vinyl type for the tent, brown canvas for poles, and small brown canvas for stakes. I see no difference between our tents. My only flaw is the screen separated from the seam down toward the bottom, just like one of your screens. did you ever fix your screens? what did it cost you? |
