I've always been intrigued by Solex P40-II carbs
They're period correct, look great with a set of Speedwell manifolds, and when tuned correctly, can help your car to run the like a freight train.
Unfortunately, there are some downsides. They don't wear well, they're very expensive to rebuild, and most importantly, have a reputation for being a bit soggy below 3000 RPMs.
For those of you who're running them on an Okrasa engine, how "streetable" are they?
Cheers,

Mine were not on an Okrasa engine (mild 1700cc type 1) but they were very streetable. They also make a great sound. They are extremely complex and physically very large, difficult to work with in a Beetle engine compartment. For the cost involved I'd never do it again. I'd go for a pair of Dell's and put some vintage looking air cleaners on them. _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |

I'm running Sandcast Solex 40 P-11's on the street on my driver lowlight Denzel Ghia without any issues. Granted, the bottom end is a little "soggy" but when the RPMS come up around 1500, they come to life! I love 'em especially when i'm on the freeway and doing 65 mph and I need to pass someone, I just give her some gas and she runs like a scalded cat! Granted, having 28mm venturi's is a little big for 1300cc but I love 'em when needed which.......is always I love the looks on those GT Mustang owners when i'm keeping up with them on the onramp..... Cheers Amigos
