|
|
I have a '65 Single cab with 14" wheels. I am hearing varying input on what size wheel is correct for the 1965 commercial vehicles.
Just trying to determine what size wheels are factory correct for this truck? 14" or 15"? If 15" is correct, what should the wheel look like, as in, is it different than a 15 inch beetle wheel of that era?
Thanks for any and all input, Eric |

@hazetguy: thanks for your quick reply...
can you possibly tell me what year assembly manual that double page spread of info covers?
Based on word of mouth amongst other bus guys, did VW not go to 15" wheels somewhere mid sixties on the commercial vehicles, if prior to that? Thanks, Eric |

You want a 6 ply. C rated Bias ply. tires if you plan on caring heavy loads as designed, but for cruising, camping, and everyday driving top quality radials will improve gas mileage and stopping power and most of all ease of finding. |

"aeromech wrote" is a quote that hazetguy lifted from another topic. Mostly because the guy to whom it refers is, well, like that. He is not talking about you. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

It's from a 1965 Bus owner's manual
VW changed from 15" wheels to 14" wheels during the 1964 model year, in late 1963
From the Wheels thread found in the Bus FAQ at the top of this section:
Quote: |
On December 19, 1963, chassis # 1222026 (August 5, 1963, chassis # 1145427 for 1 ton models), VW went to a 14" wheel, size 14x5.00 |
All '65s are 14" wheels. _________________ How to Post Photos

there's an entire section on the site that has scans of owner's manuals.

the one for a '65:
