Hello all; anyone here using a fuel pressure regulator and an electric fuel pump with a Pepco or Judson SC? The previous owner told me he had to use an Elect pump and regulator in order to get the pressure the engine wanted, He said it was very picky, and stock mechanical pump didnt work out. Now ive just recently upgraded to a larger carb (from 28PCI to 32PCI) it ran great at first but now im having an issue I think is fuel related. So in the essence of being thorough, I wonder if the larger carb may require a little more fuel pressure? Its always been set at about 4.5 PSI. Im using a Malpassi fuel regulator/ glass filter with pressure gauge. The problem im having is it will run fine at idle, but when brought up to about 3,000 rpm the pressure will start to jump around and then start falling until it reaches 1 or less then the engine starts to cut out. If I back off, the pressure slowly goes back up to 4.5. The issue started when I was at about 50mph and it sputtered a couple times then died, it then wouldn't start for awhile until I messed with it. I thought at first my issue was ignition related but after checking for power, spark, etc., I started thinking of fuel. Then when I saw the pressure fluctuations and loss, im focused on that now. My first thought was the electric fuel pump was bad, but I just recently replaced that already about 3 moths ago when the old one failed completely; I have a new FP on order just in case, but looking for opinions.

Should you not have a boost referenced FPR?
You would also need a return line to your tank of course.

thanks for your reply, could you please clarify your question? My set up is a soft line from bottom of tank (petcock) to a inline filter, then an 8mm copper hard fuel line to the rear of the car, goes in to the fuel pressure regulator / glass bowl filter, (this has the pressure guage on it), then exits the FPR and goes to the carb via another hard line...
