ok
as I mentioned on page 1

and confirmed by page 2

safari's came with a grey water tank

yet............
the few people that responded all said they have no
grey water tank under their bus

since it took me 10 years to find this grey water tank for my westy
(finally found one Very Happy )

I propose that everyone who has a safare custom and makes a post here
include whether or not they have a grey water tank

I have the badges off the bus that I pulled grey water tank from
and it was a safare custom

Its just hard to believe that if all safare custums came with this tank
It would be a little easier to find

Yes, they did. I know because mine is now sitting in my sideyard. Wink My bus was mostly unmolested, other than missing cushions up top.

I'd really like a second freshwater tank to put there, because I have no need for a grey water tank at the moment. Also, I opened mine up and found about 40 dead hornets and spiders inside, so I suspect there was an epic battle at one point. Shocked

As I don't have it in front of me (currently traveling), I can't get you the brand.

I sold my '71 Safare to a surfer in the San Clemente area about 20 years ago.

Light blue, white tin top, dead #3 cyl, & a very cool rack.

I also put a EU license plate on the rear bumper (to hide a dent). The plate # was M-6177-FV...or something like that

Just wonder if anyone in the San Diego area has seen it.

It took me quite a while to figure out the VW I purchased this Summer is a Safare and not a Riviera.

Not sure if the guy who "restored" it back in 2002 redid the entire interior with custom stuff, the white laminate definitely doesn't look stock.

The original vinyl cushions are still there, just covered by fabric. Front seats are definitely not stock, and not VW at all as far as I can tell.

These pics are from when I bought it, I've cleaned it up quite a bit since then.

I bought this one a year ago. First VW for me, bought it based on a buddy's recommendation whose had a safare hightop for 7 years. I installed some Jalousie windows, and built out the interior based on the original template. Only exception is I added a book chest over the engine since I sleep up top. Now its on to learning how to keep it running for forever. Very Happy Smile Very Happy

Digging up an old thread. Seems like the bus pictured above might have been on the assembly line at the same time as the bus we just pulled out of the woods.

Yeah, yeah... I know this is an old posting, but it was never answered.
The cooler unit just inside the slider is exactly like the one in my Riviera. So is this a High Top Riviera? I couldn't zoom in far enough on the door stickers to read them.

Thanks - But that was all I could find too and not all dimensions are there - I will have to print and scale them - From this photo of an adventure wagon - it looks like top will have to be shortened by 3-6 inches??? - see cut at rear of tray...Trouble is I have a Safare top without the tray..

Pics Shown from Classiccult OCTO 2017 - Anybody know the owner???
