A toilet in a bus? Gross! I like the rest though, nice interior and bus. _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. CB 044 heads, AutoCraft rockers, chromoly push rods

I have spoke with the owner, it's the first swivel seat Alabama Camper identified! I sent him a link to my thread and he said the interior was the same as mine. Might be the only large hatch swivel seat too? _________________ Brandon |

Well I'm jealous now. How do know an Alabama camper if there is no interior left? _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. CB 044 heads, AutoCraft rockers, chromoly push rods

Holes in the roof for those giant tent mounts, also there would be distinct marks from where the bed attached to the rear deck.
If you were referring to the wide hatch ss bus, the headliner paneling in the pic below was a clue. You can see there is a wide center piece that overlaps the curved pieces at the sides. The side pieces of the headliner paneling are made of three strips to achieve the curve at the sides, same as my camper. I haven't seen this in any other american conversions:
Same random groove paneling, the panel converts have the solid wood window frames instead of the wood grained aluminum.
When I contacted the owner, he looked at my pictures and said his was exactly the same. He still has all the cabinets including the ice box and original tent & poles, plus the toilet.
You've got nothing to be jealous about T, your ss is super bad ass!! _________________ Brandon |

I wondered about that too. I'm guessing the passenger seat was added later when the green carpet was put in but who knows, maybe part of the camper kit?

Guys,
I think the seats were changed. The drivers seat swivels but makes contact with the floor. The passenger seat had a wood deck under it. There is no track under the passenger seat. I was told that these busses were ordered as panel vans and then converted after they arrived.

For sure, just wondering if the seats were done at the time of the camper conversion or later on by an owner. Your bus is lookin good! _________________ Brandon |

I like it but to me it should incorporate the swivel seat action into the rear camper section. A wider table to reach the swivel seat when it turns 180 degrees and faces the back. And no cabinet interfering with it directly behind the seat. Other than that it's choice looking. _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. CB 044 heads, AutoCraft rockers, chromoly push rods

I forgot to mention, swivel seats are the best buses in the world for tall people because you can scoot them back to the last notch in the slider rails and the seat back is several inches behind the bulkhead which gives mega leg room and makes driving them more comfortable than any other bus. _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. They are great for leg room, but that's about it IMO.
I'm a huge fan of the "swivel dance" Seven simple steps. It goes like this:
1) Exit the bus
2) Move seat forward to clear bulkhead
3) Rotate seat until it hits steering wheel
4) Move seat back to clear steering wheel
5) Rotate seat the rest of the way
6) Shut door and re enter bus through the cargo doors
7) Enjoy looking backwards
It's an interesting M Code, but that's about it. Pretty impractical. _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |

Andre, nice bus. Welcome to the "exclusive" club within the exclusive club. There just aren't very many of them swivel seat buses around. What're your plans for that beauty? |
