Anyone else having trouble finding a place that sells lower cooling tins? I need one for my 77 Westfalia with a type 4 motor. The lower drivers side tin seems like it's impossible to find.

The sled tins need to match the exhaust system you are running,; 72-74, 75-78, 79, and California variants.

Those won't fit a 78 unless you have a 72-74 exhaust, this is what you need if you still have F pipes leading to U pipes at the front: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1974959

Here's an old pic from under the bus...dont mind the old oil leaks, those have been taken care of!
The oranges circles show where my cooling tin would mount.

You need the 72-74 style, like the ones in the first link. The ones with the valley in the middle won't work.

Partially correct, whoever swapped the early exhaust on there left the late forward tin in place, you'll need those as well.

That one VWEd posted will work but you'll still need the early forward curved plates.

Alright, found my tins. Ended up having to install an older model forward tin that connects to my bottom sled piece, as suggested..

77 bus with 72-74 lower tins. go figure! Thanks for all the help fellas
