Ok. So my new boss knows I'm into vw's. He tells me about this time he was in Puerto Rico at Rosy Roads talking to some of the old boys at a yacht club. They were talking about a J24 boat for sale, & were asking each other what they thought about those boats. When asked by my boss, one fellow replied "I learned not to give my opinions on such matters". When asked why, he answered that years ago shortly after the end of WWII, he was asked to go in on a business venture with 5 other fellows. They were planning on importing these neat cars to North America. Well, when he seen what these cars looked like, he decided "Those ugly f@#!ing things will never sell over here". 
Although I didn't hear this conversation first hand, I doubt my boss would make up such a thing.
