In your first post you said this was a zwitter. I see an oval dash in your parts, but in these pics I don't see a zwitter but an earlier split???

I assume that Andries has only put these pictures of an other split bug (with the "2 glove box holes" split dashboard) in this thread to illustrate what his one kinda looked like when he found his zwitter in a barn years ago.
Notice that in the pictures from Andries in his garage that you can see the zwitter bug that has been cut up in sections for storage (check the dash section).
Exciting!

Yes, correct Tisius. Photos are illustrative. But it looked exactly like that.
In the meantime the nosepart is in the shop to be grinded to fit .... i gave them a call this afternoon and they told me it would take another month or even longer when they enter hollidays Shocked. I gave them untill the end of the week cause this is slowing down my build a lot.

I dont wanne wait around for a piece thats gonne cost me 300$ if i can fix this at home within an hour costfree by welding on the post okt 52 mount.

Btw, i will be moving my workshop soon along with the split. I had a rental contract with the old lady in a barn where i store my other cars. She died so i have to move.

Scrap that ####. That evening whilst driving home i was thinking, I got nothing on paper. If he is already lying bout when it will be finished he wont be honest bout the price.

So I decided to get my nosepieces back and do the grind myself .... by hand.
That went ... rather well. So decided to do a progress update.

This may seem silly but i engraved my name in the nosepiece. Split bugs and Mustangs being stolen in Belgium and the Netherlands is insane lately.

Tried out the floor pans. Original thickness. Fits like a glove

Forgot to mention the sheer amount of T3s being stolen.

But yeah i got some links etc.

This dutch fellas split was stolen and recovered deep into Germany. They left it cause it broke down.

In the city where i live (Deinze) a buddy of mine his 66 ruby red Mustang got stolen. This was 8 months ago. Never heard a thing from it again.

Most of this i see pass on facebook. But the flemish site i surf a lot has a page with a link to the harbour police in Antwerp they recover around 250 vehicles a year.

When fitting the nose to the transmission you must measure the depth of the hole in the nose for the pinion bearing and then use correct thickness of gasket to "preload" hold the bearing tight and prevent it moving back and forth. if it is loose in there the transmission will be very noisy. Smile
(its ok to make your own gasket but the correct thickness is important)

Thickness was 0.011 mm off. I installed a gasket to prevent the bearing from ever moving. I now have a new workspace for my split. Very tidy. But very unaccessible. Chassis is finished, sand blasted, powder coated, shifter installed and working. Now working on the front axle and pedal assembly. I hope to be finished with the chassis by december so i can start work on the body.

So far this has been very rewarding.

Tought id tease you guys a bit. Since everyone thinks this abandoned. Works have slowed down quite a bit. Since for my job I had to take on evening courses. This + my kids means hardly any time for any of my cars.

This is not the OG engine. Its a 34 i saved from the crusher. It has 24k original km on it. Had been sitting in a shed of the grandfather of a friend of me for over 30 years. Piston rings were rusted. Cilinders, rings and pistons are a new kit. OG 25 engine will have to wait till last.

Lol another zwitter Very Happy. Would love to see your approach.
Ive been thinking about the single tip or double for almost a year now. I have both clips.
Quite honestly I like the double tip better. This still doesnt mean ill go with it.
Time will tell.

For now heres a zwitter with a wrong apron. I know its not OG but I love it.

For now it is only scavenging parts. Only when I have all replacement metal in place I will start with the bodywork. Approach will more or less be the same as what I have done to my oval, see flat4free.com for topic http://www.flat4free.be/forum/viewtopic.php?t=125612
But it will be a driver so some upgrades will take place regarding driveability and engine.

On my 54 oval I have the vintagespeed single tip, I like this one very much. But if you like double-tip better just go for it Laughing

PS I have send you a PM via this forum.
