Tom Tom yes a good way to look at it. The 15 was my daily for over four years and I've driven the piss out of it! I have some where in the neighborhood around 112k on the motor and still running strong.
I've got almost same exact motor ready to go for Buck soon.

I can answer this one. The panels are exactly the same for single cab and double cab.

Well not much has happen since last post. I have just done allot of little things but all those little things add up.
Lets see loaded up Dc for OCTO friday night.

Always a great time at OCTO with all my Cunado's. Gibbs flew in from East Coast to renew his contract with us as our official eastcoast model. Congrats Gibbs!

A few of my OCTO scores.

Installed the second I had a chance. I don't know why I hadn't done this sooner. Already have another on order for the 15

original turn signal knob
My favorite score og dove blue driver mirror arm. Still looking for a passenger

Found decklid bolts and two dove blue washers to match. Not sure if they used painted washers? always thought they were black, Maybe some experts out there can chime in? But guy gave them to me and they look better than the local hardware store washer that PO was using.

installed

I picked up a few other things, but more on those in later post. so after Octo everyone goes over to Charlies house for tour of his place and Pizza. I swear I see something new every time I go over.

After that I headed up to High desert to a friends house for a surprise Bday party. Well it turns out the surprise was on us because he wasnt there when we arrived but a hour later he shows up with his new to him 63' DC

After getting home from another great weekend I installed deck lid seal

Then Halloween came and we set up a photo booth with Buck the truck. Big hit! My neighbors lined up for hours to take pictures with Buck.

Then Another order was place for some more small stuff but makes huge difference, like seat bump stops, door seals and gas door rubber bumpers.

What was left of old seal was nasty.

This weekend I finally got around to painting safaris from grey to dove blue

What a difference door seals make! Like I said allot of boring stuff, but when put in the big picture a much better experience over all. I'm slowly dialing Buck the truck in.
Almost forgot went camping last weekend with the Heilite Mafia at a local lake Siverwood. This little show was great and keeps getting better, It was there fourth show. I haven't missed one yet. Chilli cook off contest was fun and well organized. fun time by all.
Cunado love's the kids

I didnt get any pictures all set up. I'm getting bad at that. I guess just having to much fun. But I did get one on way out.

All the little things add up! Safari's look great. Those gas pedal linkage kits look really nice, I may need to give it a try.

WOW, Its been a while since I've last updated my thread.
Allot has happen since last post. I've done a few small thing and some bigger projects but mainly just enjoying the miles of smiles Very Happy Very Happy
Ok up first Buses by the bridge was coming up so I hooked up heater boxes and after a few days cleaning out cable channels and lubing and fixing broken parts. I got them to work just in time for trip. It was cold driving out and rain was expected.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Of course we always leave early. All loaded up and ready to roll
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

drive threw dessert is always nice.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Buck made it with no issues and of course the show was great except for the little bit of rain we had. I entered the Chilli cook off last year and took second place and that bother me all year so I worked on my recipe entered again this year and WON 1st place.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Those that know me know other than Vw's cooking for my friends while camping is a passion for me also. It was great to hear from people I didn't even know tell me that they loved my Chilli and voted for me.
I didn't take many pics but here are a few and some on the way home.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Finally home with my load.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Next OCTO came and went. Alway great seeing everyone. But MY favorite part is being able to drive up the night before and camp inside.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

It rained on us. But still fun.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Well like I said I did a few little things here and there to try to dial in the Dc more. Some before and after pic's

Also spent some time taking off house paint still on in a few area's
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Again allot of little boring things but add up in the end.
Then I got itch to jump in Buck and drive over to Arizona for the Bugaroma
So I adjusted valves, changed oil and headed out on a 380 mile one way trip by myself. I didn't put a new valve cover gasket on like I usually do and about 150 miles into trip this happen.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

passenger side gasket gave out. Not a problem though slap on a new one and was back on the road in no time. I didn't take many pic's there to busy talking and meeting so many new and great people. But here is one a good friend took of me.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Here's a picture Shin Watanbe took of me driving threw the dessert home.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Shortly after crossing Cali/Arizona border this happen.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Another break down. Whole carb linkage came loose. Another quick fix and back on the road again in no time.
Probably not the smartest thing to drive almost 800 miles round trip by your self threw the dessert at 97 degrees. Think BUt it was fun and I'd do it again given the chance.
So one of the Last things that bother me about Buck was his abs interior installed by po. So a call was made to Bill Bowman for an interior set he had.
He sent it out asap and I cant even tell you the extra care he took in packaging the set up and sending out to me. Great job Bill!
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

So i went right to work installing the set. But I decided to fix dent in nose a little better and did the foot ball trick. and of course while all panels were off I took the time to insulate everything I could.
Before

After

Couldn't be happier with new interior panels.
I try my best not to use cheap stuff like empi products but a good friend recommend I try this muffler. My stock one was giving me trouble and since this is my temporary motor for now and not wanting to invest much. I gave it a shot.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

So after some quick modifications I sanded down muffler, gave it a good coat first of high temp primer and then high temp gloss black paint then wrapped headers with header wrap.
Like Most of Empi's Cheap stuff you get fitment sucked!! Brick wall So after a few hours I finally got everything to line up and work. And I do have to say in the end it made a huge difference in the motor and the effort was worth it.
Last but not least was this last weekend I finally got around to making awning cover and side curtains for Buck. I had Hot Dog Fred make awning frame.

The double cab looks great, thanks for the update. I hope to get the paint stripped down to original on mine and get it on the road this year.
