Thanks Guys for the comment.

Today I went to the mechanical inspection for the Canadian registration and nothing to report Cool.
Then tomorrow the car will get its new license plates from Quebec Province. I will finally be able to enjoy it legally Cool

I also added few goodies here and there:

56 texas license plate + front toper plate, NOS beauty rings with X patern, right hand side albert mirror and original stone guard that came from a 356 speedster.
By the end of the month the split case transmission should also be restored and ready for many years of additional services.

ditch the headlight grills, the rest looks great on this car- just hard to see a truly original vintage car all blinged out tijuana style. keep it simple- thats the beauty of your car!

For me one of the great beauties of the pre-67 Beetles was the glass covers over the headlights. I think you want to call attention to those and not cover them up with the grills...but you also want to invest in a few spare headlight covers just in case some day a rock punches a hole in one of them.

Are you able to run Texas plates in Canada? If not I can help you unload those for a reasonable price Laughing Did you get the plates from a guy in San Antonio. I got mine from him and lost his contact info. I need some more.

Thanks Guys for the comments.

About the grills I can admit that it is a mix in between styles, but I love it with them, and even more because these are OG grills with some light pitting due to the age which perfectly suits the car.

The topper plate I found it on ebay and it comes from Texas, the same as the license plate dated the same year as the car.

In Quebec province we only have 1 license plate on the rear so you can put what ever you want on the front.
The only thing to be carrefull of is to do not go in US like this otherwise the US border Guys will remove the US plate and destroy it.
That is what happened to me when I went US with my bus Smile

here are few pics of my vert in front of my rebuilt driveway.

It has been a long journey since the past years to come to that result.
Now that building work is complete, my neighborhood is starting to speak to me again Smile
