For my lack of vanagon knowledge (not to be sarcastic), what is the purpose of the 2WD decal? Obviously the 4wd makes sense to let people know it is a 4wd capable vehicle. Was the 2wd decal ever from the factory? Im just curious why the 2wd would be used.

Never from the factory. It was dreamed up by wannabe posers. Razz

Thanks Baru16 for the Tristar decal file! Now we need one for the Syncro Tristar.

Wouldn't a Poser would be the guy who stuck the 4WD sticker on their 2WD ?

Someone I guess just liked the look of the 4WD sticker idea but didn't have a Syncro ( or need one ) .....

True, but the 2WD sticker still gives the fake look of the "cool" Syncro. Cool
To be really honest, the Syncro is the 2WD, or 3WD if locked (unless you have a front locker in which case then it's a 4WD!) the regular Vanagon is a 1WD. Laughing

The more I think about it, the more I must have a custom sticker on the luggage rack.
WESTPHALIA would be cool but maybe even FURTHER or perhaps TARDIS
Does anyone have the full alphabet in that font?

It isn't a standard font so the answer is no.

I agree! I would love to figure out a way to redo ours.

Thanks!

I just bought a (close) reproduction from Meister Werks. He only has Silver & White, but it was close & good enough for mine.

Reviving this thread to try to get an updated link? If someone can share the files with me I will mirror a link from my Dropbox as well. Thanks.

At this point it doesn't seem like anyone will be sharing. There's too many people that make money off of selling decals now. See above for just one example. I can't really blame them, though, as many (all?) of them had to create the font from scratch which is very time consuming, at least from my experience.

Maybe if someone could track down baru16 he could re-share the files in a more permanent fashion?

EDIT: Originally misquoted which user had linked the files.

Wow has it really come down to that? Well that's unfortunate to hear. I was hoping for the files to edit into other phrases. I'll share what I came up with for my college team. Go beavs!

This same topic came up on the Vangon Owners Facebook Group a few days ago. Well, we can thank our lucky stars that someone decided to share the original file in this thread! Woo hoo!

You can download the file here:

https://www.vanagon.org/s/vanagon-logos-and-decals.ai

I also made a page on vanagon.org where people can navigate to the file:

https://www.vanagon.org/downloads/

I have no intention of ever deleting or changing the above URLs, but if we don't want this lost into the abyss for 2+ years again, it would probably be wise for at least one more person to provide a secondary link for sharing.

Now, anyone have the skills to create the entire alphabet using these letters? That's tops on my wish list, but not sure I know how to pull it off.

Anybody know what the dimensions of the 2WD or 4WD lettering should be?

Also, would be cool if PRERUNNER was added to the list...

Took matters into my own hands and made the prerunner graphic: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B_JjSG1Vbg2HSEVVOHlXOEJ4bHM?usp=sharing

don't know what the dimensions should be, so if anybody can help with that, that would be cool.

Oh man! In my flu induced sillyness, I so want a 1WD sticker for my van. When I add the locking diff in the future I'll upgrade to 2WD.

Agreed. 1WD would be classic. There is also a blog called "63mph." I would love a 63 mph sticker because that is my van's happy speed. Actually 45 is nirvana.

This thread reminded me of why i loved my Vangon so much. Now i have to start looking for a replacement.

I still have all the original files and even better i made much more. Will be uploading files soon.

BTW not cool you guys didn't give me credit for the files... But it's ok...

Surely I'm not included in these broad brush strokes? I have not touched the page since I created it, and it literally links back to this thread: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=6148079#6148079

If that's not considered linking to a source I'm not sure what is.

A slanted and solid (not outline) "syncro" can be downloaded from https://www.brandsoftheworld.com/logo/syncro-4wd-0
