Gary,
You and Telford are awesome for jumping in and helping her so much. Cynthia lucked out having you help her and then hit the lotto having Telfords amazing electrical knowledge and skills fixing her electrical issues.
I'm looking forward to your updates and the smile on her face as she drives it after all of you have all her issues corrected. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

Did that come with the bus, factory part or custom made. I'd like something like that to prevent my top from lifting at speed |

1974 and on factory roof latch. Start a new thread with pictures. Perhaps folks can assess what's going on. I should say. I think that's the same latch used on 74 on. For sure 76 on.

I absolutely love San Diego. I finally surfed this week after not surfing over a month and it was amazing. I forgot what brought me out here with everything going on with work and the bus. Ive learned so much after spending time with my bus, Brian, gary, Telford, and Robbie.
Some things I've learned:
-changing a fan belt and adjusting it.
- I learned how to change a clutch cable with Robbie coaching me into it.
- New parts are not always better
- you are entitled to ask for the old parts back from the shop when they replace it.
- Gary's garage is like a mechanic's heavens, so many neat tools! I love the his polisher, makes the ugliest metal so nice and shiny!
- the amount of time we dedicated to take to inspect EVERYTHING, polish parts, painting parts, shops would never do, it doesn't make sense to them. No offense to any shops, but no one will care for your engine as much as you do and maybe that's why everyone learns to work on thier own bus
- adjusted drum brakes on Brian's bug
- carry spare parts you never know when you encounter a stranger that may need it more than you do
I'm gonna learn how to adjust valves with Robbie next time I need it. The boys are gonna teach me basic maintaince before I hit the road, the bus still needs a lot work but we got the engine is running. I'd like to stay around here for a while. Breaking down is all part of the package of owning these bus' and I can't wait till I get the moment that I could diagnosis the issue and fix it. Robbie gifted me the book how to keep your Volkswagen alive, my nightly read. Whenever I do break down next I know I'll be more prepared and be much more knowledgeable. For now I'll keep learning and working on the bus and helping others work on thier bus'.
Ken, the bus co had been such a delight to work with expressing any parts I need. He has an amazing collection of stuff go check him out!
Telford, is the sweetest for helping me out. He did all my electrical work and I'm happy Gary was able to connect us. Gary is the plug for all my VW needs
Gary: I know a guy

And the takeaway...........

Cynthia ended up getting more greasy than Robbie
Oh also this was hilarious to find, even funnier after the Pliney she brought down. Don't worry Jason, we had plenty of beers

That dam beer was so hard to find and on top of that there was a 2 beer limit per person. I felt so juvenile asking 2 stranger to buy me more Pliny (I told them I was over 21) so I'd have enough for everyone at Gary's. I ended up getting 6 in total. |
