Are you sure it's wired up correctly? My kit car uses a Ghia wiper motor assembly and I think the parking function is disabled if a certain wire isn't grounded. Been about a year since I messed with it so my memory might be a bit fuzzy.
WOW! I looked at the pics of your car. I had an orange '70 Ghia "just like" yours. But mine was full of rust and yours is BEAUTIFUL! _________________ "Just $99 down and $64 a month for 36 months buys you a brand new Volkswagen Beetle!"

I wouldent waste $ or thyme on building a small motor. build it big so it dosent have to work hard.remember it's only as fast as your foot alows it to be unless you build a small turd then it just stinks as it squishes up through your toes when you step on it. |

Thanks -- I'll look into it further -- it's wipers never parked since I got the car so I'll check the wiring. We never drive it in the rain anyhow as she is garaged. But I do want hte function to work, especially if it not too expensive.
Yeah, she is a sweet Ghia that I scored accidentally a few years ago!
Thanks so much for your help! _________________ 84 Vanagon Pop Top Conversion from Tin Top, 1970 Ghia - all sweet rides! Love em!

I'll try to look at the info I have tomorrow & see if I'm remembering correctly. _________________ "Just $99 down and $64 a month for 36 months buys you a brand new Volkswagen Beetle!"

I was a bit off in what I remembered. The info I have is for '71 and later motors but I think it should be the same for the earlier ones. To park the wipers the motor requires power at terminal 53a after the switch is shut off. I looked at the wiring diagram in my Bentley manual and it doesn't show a terminal 53a but I know that when I was replacing the wiper motor in my Kelmark it took one from a '69 or later Ghia and it had a terminal 53a on it. _________________ "Just $99 down and $64 a month for 36 months buys you a brand new Volkswagen Beetle!"

Thanks Everyone -- looks like I'll do some wiring investigations before ordering! _________________ 84 Vanagon Pop Top Conversion from Tin Top, 1970 Ghia - all sweet rides! Love em!
