My June '65 has a strengthening rib that goes vertical, on each side of every jack point.
I saw them again on another bus today ('66).
The normally seen KF/WW/AutoCraft parts are the early style (pre-mid '65) jack points.... with no "rib"
Does anyone know when the "rib" started?
Does anyone know of a source for the later style? (or have any spare NOS to sell me?)

Hah... found it.
I had looked in Progressive Refinements under "Frame" and didn't find it.
Then I remembered I got busted they other day by Campingbox for being sloppy in a search... poked around a little more & found it under "Body." Which is kinda weird... because the middle part number "703" isn't a "body" type number.
(Still looking for a source for them though)
The Parts List only lists one part number per piece... so, apparently no new part number for the revised parts.

I think Wolfsburg West used to sell those style.
Just checked CIP and they list them. I assume these are the same as what WW sold in the past. I think tabco made or something like that(the black or orange stuff)
The quality doesn't look all that great or accurate though.

Thank you!
I had checked WW & they didn't look like that... and I had just kinda blocked CIP out of my mind for some reason.
The CIP ones have the basic correct shape... they might just need a little beefing up / re-doing at the top of the square hole to make thicker.
(I also put an inquiry in with Gerson to see if he would make some)

Wow, I remember when most used to consider the black and orange stuff good enough.
Thank you Gerson and Autocraft! |

Yes, very appreciative to those two companies for the great early style jack points.
I've inquired with both companies to see if they would produce the late style. I hope at least one company will. _________________ aka: Evan

^^ Mika does nice work. I may approach him to see if he'd make me a set.

I purchased cip1 for my below floor parts. Figured they don't show so should be good enough.
Everything that was orange was bad. Also you don't always get what is in the photo. The jack points they show are black but I received orange. |

Might work to cut out the rib section, and weld it into a good early style repro part. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

The flat piece up the back is thin and bent from assembly. If I was to use them I would replace the back with proper gage metal. |
From what I gather... sides are 2mm... lifting surface metal is 4mm... looks a fuzz thinner than 2mm on the back, but I don't have it in front of me (yet) to measure.
Autocraft said they'd make it if I send it to them.
Haven't heard back from Gerson.
I bought the NOS one below... but kinda looks like it only has a rib on one side.
Will have to just wait & see.

If I don't find any NOS... I found some back-ups... for the front anyway.
VW Brazil pieces.
They have the ribs.
They have an extra piece of ~3/8" square bar stock brazed to the bottom. I think it's to facilitate using a floor jack & help not collapse the squareness of the opening.
The flat lifting surface is 3mm, orig. is 4mm.
Other material dimensions are the same as orig.
One piece has the factory sticker: 211 703621 1
I've seen a number of right side ones floating out there for sale... but have only found one of the left side.
If I use them... I'll take off the little piece of bar stock & probably replace the lifting surface piece with correct thickness. Original lifting surface material had a little different shape too.
The difference of the lifting surface between orig. German VW & everything else... orig. had a unique die cut shape at each end.
Touching them in the pics...
