Hi Samba folks

I am thinking about adding a roof rack to my 1968 VW bug...any opinions on who makes the better mouse trap here....and maybe who makes a crappy one that I might need to know about too???

Thank you for any insight....

If you're looking for modern and functional then it's the Yakima 1A

I found one locally a few years ago, a Flat Four old school wood slat rack. Then a few year later a guy gave me one, the all steel variety. So I would attend so swap meets. Keep in mind they are noisy when un loaded.

I have an old all steel one, my trick to keeping the noise down is to wrap a bungee cord around the front bars in a spiral, like a modern antenna has built in. Makes driving unloaded much more quiet. You can see it in the picture on the top bar.

Mine is the same rack I think. Very useful. I have a different way of wrapping the bungees.

Thanks for tip sir! I may have to try it on one or all three of these:

The ragtop now has the specific rag-height rack- and the turkis car finally has the correct one for it. I think I have 4 more spare OG beetle racks hanging around the barn. I really only dig the old ones- but Pedro's are sure nice.
