Can anyone tell more about original white assistant?
Have now had three (and sadly sold them all).
Did not know that they were originally white !
Now I own one again. Completely original paint !
I think the original Porsche service?

Was first on it but seller refused to ship it .
Yes they are original but very little known about them. Probably for BMW.

In the catalogs since 1930, same price up to 1938. Considering the design and colours of the advertisement 1933-1937. |

After searching for many years, I just acquired a complete Hazet 500 VW mechanic's tool set from the late 1950s.
I live in South Africa and the toolbox turned up in Walvis Bay, Namibia, about 1,000 miles from me. It was advertised on thesamba classifieds last year April and again in December for $erious $$$. Ironically, I only heard about it when I was put in touch with the seller by velvetgreen, who hails from Canada. Thanks again Michael!
First sight:
Tools individually wrapped in tissue before shipping, as requested of the seller:
Treasure!:
Close-ups of each tray:
The box appears to have been left outside for some time during its 60-odd year life, and it also has overspray from someone painting something on it. The top tray of tools especially has some patina (rust) from exposure to salty sea air.
Some of the tools show signs of use, but most still have the original Hazet water transfers intact. _________________ fig

My Hazet wall mounted tool display board, found at Hessisch Oldendorf 2013:
not 100% complete, but most of the hard to find tools are there! |
What are the big "ring pliers" in the upper right hand corner used for? I believe they are Hazet 526. I just picked up a pair of these, but cannot determine their use. I was originally thinking they were for the big snap-rings that hold the axles / fulcrum plates in a VW transmission. |
Application: Insert and remove the circlip/lockring on the crankshaft.
The 525 is apparently to remove circlips on the axles. Antriebswelle = drive shaft
Neither is in the site tool listing... so maybe they will be soon.
I found the following photo in the 1954 catalog... near the very back.
You can find many old Hazet catalogs to look through here.
Here's the 525 on left... and 526 on right. I think it's on the upper left of the board too.

Hazet 2589 10mm T-handle.
This is the only one of these I have seen. The number indicates that it is a VW specialty tool. Works great for the distributor clamp. It is one of my more frequently used tools.

Can any of you wise people please tell me the correct specification for the blue felt in the 16" round tool box? Is it 1mm or 3mm or something different? What shade of blue is it? Is there a RAL number for it please?
Same applies to the Blue/Grey colour for the tin itself?
Cheers,
Dave |

I have a toolbox that looks to be made by Hazet. It is stamped Westfalia. Does anyone else have one? Did Hazet it make these for Westfalia?

That style of tool box was popular and very much duplicated by many european and american companies. Who knows who did it first.
It would sem there was a company named Westfalia at some point that made them?
Pretty cool nonetheless. _________________
