In addition to my '67 bug, I am the proud owner of a 17' pirate ship. I own and operate a pirate reenactors group http://www.talesofthesevenseas.com and we were in need of a pirate ship parade float. I bought a '17 tri-hull bow-rider speed boat hull on a trailer for the whopping sum of $27.51 on Ebay and hauled it home $2,000.00 and 4 months later, we'd transformed her into a pirate ship, which we christened "The Land Shark"
Hauling a pirate ship down the freeway is always a lot of fun. I get excited kids waving and pointing through the windows, people slowing down to take a look and lots grins.
But one of the funniest stories was when I pulled up to the toll booth on the Golden Gate Bridge. (I think I probably hold the distinction of being the only pirate ship to go OVER the Golden Gate Bridge!) The toll collectors, who are usually a stern bunch, looked at each other and burst out laughing then said-
"Ummmm... your passenger doesn't look too well." I looked over to the passenger side and realized that I had "Jeff" our decomposing corpse sitting next to me in the passenger seat!
Here is a link to the web page showing the construction of the Land Shark:

Damn, that is a really cool pirate ship. My other car isn't as cool as that.
It's a Lancer. _________________ Current Rides

Yeah, my other car can't top that either.
My daily driver is a 1990 Chevy Beretta. It's been fairly reliable and fun to drive, but I can't wait until I can bump my VW into that position.

....a 2000 Civic si that I never drive, but I own it, it's the wife's car. If my '65 goes down, I have the Single Cab as backup/emergency transportation. I refuse to drive anything but buses anymore.

...a 96 Ford Contour that people feel the need to keep smashing up. I have yet to have it fixed since it has been hit 6 times now. It gets me from point A to point B when I'm not driving my Bug. Whatever works...for now. _________________ VW-less right now...looking

Yeah, I really don't care about it too much, but it does kinda worry me. What if I were driving my bug instead of the contour? The bug would be all smashed up instead and that would really suck. _________________ VW-less right now...looking

My other car is a 2002 Lexus SportCross. I think of it is a modern Squareback. Also it reminds me of VWs, because owners of IS300 are very passionate about there cars and because it is quasi-rare. What do you think, modern Squareback?

Hmmm... technically, the Passat Wagon ("Variant" in other countries) is the heir to that title.
Your Lexus is pretty similar in shape though!
