I may want to go look at a car with 1600 DP with duel carbs. Don't know which distributor or carbs. I do know from what I read that the VW is very finicky about distributor and carb combination. I get the idea if not what came from factory you will have dead spot and idling problems. So are the duel carbs a bad thing since there was no distributor made for duel carbs? |

Dual carbs are an upgrade. if not running right then obviously something is wrong. _________________ Go outside and do something. |

Dueling carbs, whether using swords or pistols would be rather dangerous and could get messy under the hood. It's best to find two that are compatible.
But all kidding aside I had a single port 1600 wth dual solex carbs that ran exceptionally well, I wish I could remember which stock distributor I had. I'm sure someone will know, just ( I think ) stay away from the 009 ??? _________________ Currently own : 1969 Beetle w/ 1600cc, Single Port, Solex 30 PICT 2, Dist. 113 905 205 T, stock exhaust.

A 1600 with dual carbs work well with a VJ4BR8 or a 019 mechanical distributor. _________________ Glenn

X2 ....... When I went from a dual carb set up ( stock small Solex carbs & single port heads) to a single bigger Solex, I lost about 3 mpg. _________________ Currently own : 1969 Beetle w/ 1600cc, Single Port, Solex 30 PICT 2, Dist. 113 905 205 T, stock exhaust.
