Nice engine choice. Hopefully you don't have any cracks around the spark plug boss or in the exhaust ports. The original 2.0 engines used in 914s from 73-76 are notorious for this.
Speaking of exhaust. Here is some inspiration for you. I put this together for about 60 bucks worth of parts...
Or there is always the European Motorworks style header the snakes its way from the front over the top and out the back. Pretty slick install for dual carbs.

Thanks, I bought the engine from a buddy out of a running driving car that had no known issues so we'll see.
I'm putting together an exhaust now so I'll post it up when done. like yours too especially for the price ! _________________ http://skidmarksgarage.com/

Mark IV I opted for the hand laid and told them to let it cure in the molds for a couple days before shipping it to me, Pretty good stuff for baja parts...... _________________ http://skidmarksgarage.com/

When I first saw this build I started following, but I thought it would make a better class 11 style looker. You have changed my mind it is a really nice classic looking Baja Bug. Really good job. I like the fact you purchased the hand laid Mark IV glass. I have been using them since the beginning of time I think Lol. They are just the best around. |

I'm stoked for a video link to it running when it is! I'm going to do that exact muffler, 2" inlet Supertrapp to 4" disc closed end.
That is insanely clean. Keep it forever. _________________ 1974 Chenowth 2RL #1244 Street Legal

Love the running boards. What is the tool you use to make the holes? Are you using aluminum, or is it stainless steel? How are the running boards supported underneath. Are they bolted to the stock location? |
