Looking for information on the correct gas pedal floor attachment for a '56 Wolfsburg bus. The existing mount doesn't look like those used in later model buses I have seen. Almost looks like someone welded a door hinge to the back of the pedal and then to the floor. The big weld doesn't look very VW.

Thanks Everett. Do you happen to know a source for the felt seals for the brake and clutch pedal shafts (211 721 385)?

I think you might be referring to 211721383?
Available most resto shops... it's a round piece of felt. I think it goes on the inside of the bus.

55-58 floor had a little square retainer that held a piece of square felt on the underside of the bus.
I haven't seen anyone selling the square felt. You can make it.
It's about as square as the metal tab, has a hole in the middle about as big as the pedal shaft, has a slit from one of the edges that goes to the center hole... and is about as thick as the metal tab is Cool

If you haven't already... check the April '58 Parts List in my signature line.
When you have an "earlier" bus... it's a nice resource... that doesn't have all the later stuff that doesn't pertain.

I see your floor is original... has the grease access hole next to the throttle rod hole. Aftermarket floors don't have the extra hole (or the square felt metal tabs).
Very Happy EDIT: I just saw a KF 55-58 floor with the grease access hole. Apparently quality getting better! Very Happy

WW shows the square and round ones. I wont say they have everything but anytime I am looking for stuff like this they are my first resource.

Just to be clear... both of those ^^ linked are for inside the cab.... for two different year-range applications.

Neither is the square outer felt pad.

This is the item the parts manual in your link shows. Page 138 in the viewer item 67. PN 211 721 383. I don't have an early bus anymore to look under but the PDF in your link for a 58 shows it as round like WW has. WW says 55-59, they could be wrong.

Anyways, I don't know but hope it helps.

WW also sells the throttle pedal weld in tab and the linkage etc. They fit nice. I just replaced mine. I bought all the parts, lined everything up and welded it in. I had to do it twice. First time I was not thinking and did not fit it to the floor mat. It worked fine but I cut it out lined it to fit the hole in the floor and the floor mat!!! Ha ha

So for 55-59...
I don't think I've seen #68 on a bus (or for sale)... nor the part number for the square under-floor felt pad.

Extraneous numbers removed:

The black rubber piece is for the later style floor (without the square outer retainer + square felt):

Thanks to everyone who responded to my question. I will get a pair of the round inner felts from WW and will make the square outer pads as per Evan's description.

That piece is widely available.... for the inside of the bus.
It would be nice if you would make the square felt... that is for the outside of the bus... that is used in two places.

See photo for the two places 55-58 buses use it:

This is what the holders for the felt pedal seals look like on my '56 Wolfsburg bus:

Below the floor:

Different from the rectangular holders shown in Easy E's post above. Another unique Wolfsburg feature?
