Internal pipe wrench, Ace (and others hardware stores) have them.

How does that internal pipe wrench work-does the cam just expand outward grabbing the nut from the inside?

I agree that adapter socket sucks-it will slip and you will strip the nut. I saw a hand made one once where a piece of short pipe was cut and on one end a rod was drilled through to create a tee handle and on the other end a amall rod was drilled through and welded on to instert into the nut.

-Yeah the cam just grips the inside and tries to rotate, well it can't so it "Jams" and out comes the filler nut thingie!
-You have to position it carefully so the cam is in the nut, if you get it too far in you miss the nut and are trying to twist off the top of the neck!
-That piece in the leading picture seams to be designed to suck. Look how the ends of the "tang" are angled off right where in grabs the slot!

I agree the internal pipe wrench is so much easier to use.

I even have the real dealer tool as seen in the first post (higher quality) and I still use the pipe wrench.

What size is needed for the oil filler nut-I saw a 1/2" and a 3/4" wrench in the pipe section at the hardware store.

I took an old strap style gate hinge, did a bit of grinding so that is fits the slot and it work perfectly.
