Recently installed dropped spindles and disc brakes along with adjusters. With the beam adjusted up to make up for the large drop from the thing spindles I need longer shocks. Any suggestions based on experience before I start measuring and bugging the auto parts guys?

You put drop spindles and an adjustable beam in, and then adjusted the beam up to compensate for the drop spindles? Bug spindles will drop you a couple inches, and then bug style drop spindles will drop you again another 2.5. So did you drop the front too much and then adjust the beam up to compensate? I would think if anything you would need shorter shocks, not longer?

I put in dropped spindles and discs because I got a good deal on them. This dropped a total of 5.5 " or so. I knew this was too much so I also installed adjusters. So now to get the right ride height I have adjusted the torsion arms up from a stock position so now need longer shocks.

What is the distance between the upper and lower shock mounts?

Here are some KYB front gas shock specs:

KYB-343143 (Standard size Bug, Ghia, Thing 66-77): Fully extended - 20 inches - Fully compressed - 15-1/2 inches

KYB-343208 (Lowered Bug, Ghia 66-74): Fully extended - 13-1/4 inches - Fully compressed - 9-1/4 inches
