Maybe try "plaster of Paris" when you search?

If you are looking for a "form" to work over to do repairs of cracked or missing fiberglass, I have use Styrofoam block carved to shape and covered with kitchen plastic wrap...

If you are going to use fiberglass anyway your could make you mold out of fiberglass instead of plaster.

Thanks Vince
I did this once for a dune runner repair after I saw one of your posts
I just thought that the cost of fiberglass to make only one part ( big part ) would be more than using POP
If I could get way with not doing a mold that would be the best
What I mean is lay several layers of fiberglass over the orignal then remove orignal and sand the new part smooth . This would make the new part a little bigger , but that is ok
Will this work ????

You could do a thin layup so it would not be too much bigger and then glass it from the underside to build up thickness. Then you can sand the face/top side smooth.

Hopefully this makes sense.

Vince I read somewhere if I try and add to the inside to a thin layup
the heat will cause it to warp
I think if I use cloth insted of mat it may work , just not sure how many layers it would need

If you add too many layers at once it will heat up. Start with 2 layers, let them cure than keep adding till it is the same thickness as the rest of the part/panel. 3 layers is usually what I stay with to keep the heat and warping to a minimum.

Thanks Vince
So if I get this right whjat you are saying
1) lay 3 layers on the top of the part that I want to copy
2) remove original part
3) lay up additional layers to the inside , but only 2 or 3 at a time
to keep the heat down
do I use mat or cloth ?

I would lay out 2 layers of matt on the part to copy.

Then layup 3 layers on the underside at a time till you get the thickness you want.
