Just pulled this poor guy out of a yard in Corona Ca where it sat since the early 80s. It was being used and abused as part of a paint ball course where it was just beat to its current condition. Thankfully the owner allowed me to swap him out and save it. Looks like it's a late 60 maybe early 61 walkthrew. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Crazy story! Maybe all that paint preserved the OG color underneath? |

I restored a 1948 Ford woody station wagon. The original owner was a house painter and he painted the wood dark brown when the car was new and in subsequent years. When we stripped the house paint off, the original wood was like new!
I can't wait to see what this one looks like under all of that paint! _________________

Please weigh it- before and after stripping. My bet in the pool is the paint adds about 650lbs. _________________

I helped my son save it and I know he would love to be the one to restore it but the projects he has now is more than enough to manage. This will be passed on to someone else to build. We're just happy to save it from total distruction. |

Good job fellas! Hard to believe the driver's seat is still there. I have a faint memory from about 20 years ago of that bus! I was there for a birthday or bachelor party, can't remember. Was there a bay window too?
I love this picture.

@Oatman they didn't know of any other bus there but this one. It's for sure a paint strippers dream lol.
@soike0180 were going to pass this one to someone else that's up to a challenge with an early walkthru. Once the paint is removed it will be cool again. |

I guess I don't know why people would say that. Corona is pretty hot and dry, not much rain. I'd think it's pretty solid underneath _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

I hope so. I was kidding, but that looks really crusty. Then again, there have been other buses much worse (wine bottle bus, bullet bus, etc.) that have been brought back. I hope someone with the right skills picks this up and gets it going again. |
