... the car doesn't appear to be that complete, in the picture. I don't know how much it was listed for, but suspected a lot of dough.
I contacted him this morning asking how much he wanted for the whole car... he replied that he had $24K in it... reading between the lines, upwards of $24K, I guess... seems expensive to me, but all he has to do is be patient , by allowing some time to pass and he'll get what he wants... I think his desire to parting it out is practicing impatience. and IS a shame. _________________ 5/50, pastel green 11G - SOLD

I contacted this seller a few months ago when the car was listed for $25m obo or trade. I offered up my '55 with plenty of photos. He responded back saying he was truely interested in my car but had a cash buyer he was waiting to hear back from. After over a month of no word, I contacted him and said I would be moving on with my car based on lack of response. _________________ '63 Ragtop |

shame to part out. i think he is in too deep. even parting out i don't see 24k worth of stuff. plus all the work .taking it apart. listing everything. trying to get top dollar.shipping . it may take years . he is wasting his time. sometimes it's best to cut your losses and move on. sell it whole at a loss.let someone save it. i don't see seats /glass/ window regulators/ bumpers ect.. maybe if it was complete. it just is missing too much stuff. _________________ 55 deluxe 23 window bus

... I'm with your way of thinking, but would never tell him, I don't agree with his logic and don't know anything 'bout him... am just thankful for our point of view... I sell at a loss, occasionally, knowing life is too short to be overly concerned 'bout making money... Agree, moving on is very important... the journey brings the happiness.
Hope he gets what he wants... wish that for everyone. _________________ 5/50, pastel green 11G - SOLD

Basically what you've written above already means that parting it out would be the sane conclusion. The parts that are still in the picture should bring more money than selling it as a whole (but either way most likely not close to $24k).
All the emotions aside, and not to offend owners of newer model bug, but a split window bug is simply not a seventies era bug that could be brought back to life with newly fairly mass-reproduced parts at the local VW discount store .
If you buy only a split bug shell nowadays, and you still would have to commence with getting all the missing original stock parts and then restore the car subsequently, then good luck to you and I hope you have a fat wallet.
... If you would have started sourcing parts 25 years ago or so, then it would still have been viable to put the car together in stock condition after a few years of searching for parts. Nowadays, not so much any more... _________________ drive it like you just robbed the bank

I believe he is a difficult seller to deal with. He ran me off @ full price for something he publicly offered. He refused to answer basic questions about what was included. Sorry if this doesn't belong here, but seemed relevant _________________ https://instagram.com/mr.ogpaint
