While replacing my old rusted steel coolant pipes with fancy new stainless steel pipes, I realized that the OG brackets that came on my 1984 2wd Vanagon were not going to work since the original pipes were 1-1/4” diameter and the new pipes are 1-1/2”.
OG brackets:
The vendor that I bought the pipes from had a work around for later vans (86-91) which use a “bale” type bracket, which is just basically heavy gauge wire, but nothing for my van. After some research on the samba, I found these brackets made by Jeff at http://campwestfalia.com/store/ and ordered up a set. These simulate the OG brackets, but allow for the larger coolant pipe diameter, and are very nicely done.

Thanks to http://campwestfalia.com/store/ for providing a useful product to keep our vans on the road a while longer!
