So I might have a little OCD when it comes to wiring.

So far I've noticed that there's two connection in the engine bay that should be connected somewhere, and my question is.....where?

Hopefully someone can share some light on this.

This first image is of a white wire and a black with yellow wire.

This second image is of two gray wires

Not answering your question, but the red wire to your alternator looks really bad, you can buy an improved replacement alternator harness from GoWesty and others.

I also don't like the looks of the braided hose running up to your cooling vent ring. It looks original and on the verge of failure.

Yes, that is correct.

I just got the Bus 2 weeks ago and I'm in the process of sorting and replacing everything.

There is nothing OCD about wanting an engine area properly and safely wired!! You're just smart!

Here is my 86 before I began work......

Those could be the one set of wires the OP asked about. Would the others be the wires to the oil pressure switches? Don't have any source to check for colors.

On my van, the yellow and white wires go to the idle stabilizer valve.

The sheathing on these wires matches the sheathing that goes to a diagnostic port on the alternator(on my van), which is redundant for most people, unless you have the VW special tool to read the output from the crank sensor.

I am only 90% on both these answers.
