Hey Samba!! So I managed to destroy my ACL (knee tendon) playing Oztag ... (look it up) which has significantly slowed things down. Needed surgery .. blah blah. On the mend now and back trying to get this thing finished.
Engine is out, need to get the gearbox out now too, sort out the new rhino mounts and stiffy bar etc. Then I can get the new box and engine in, and then sort out the wiring. Im seriously considering mounting the CDI box and Coil inside the car - rear parcel shelf - with one of the firewall adapters ACN sells. Any serious opposition to this? Decisions will be made when the engine is in and I can get a feel for the way it will all sit and wire up.
I am going to run a cylinder head temp and oil temp sensor made by "trailtech" which gives me the ability to run one tiny gauge and change between sensing oil temp (at the full flow outlet) or cylinder head temps (at the no.3 sparkplug). The stuff is made for offroad bikes, but ill give it a go until I get used to how it is all running and sounding, it will help me monitor things and will be easy to remove. Ive checked against boiled water from the kettle and neither sensor is spot on... but I will allow for the differences I have established the reading at what should be 100deg C.
My father in law has been helping with the final bits. Dead set legend that guy!! He has made up the bracket and air scoop for the oil filter
Looking up at the scoop

...and also made up an industrial tin of sorts. See the pics below. The sled tins remain directing air from the transaxle side to the rear of the car, the heatshield / industrial tin will act both as a heatshield around the j pipes and also protect the pushrod tubes. What do you think>? Happy to take criticism and feedback.

It is alive!! Hooray!
Well, it's not in its final form yet, I am still not entirely satisfied with the ignition system, I am chasing some gremlins in the Mallory gear I have (Unilite and Hyfire 6AL2). I will look back at that a bit later once I have my patience back.
For now though, it is in and its running. Sounds reeeeeal noice and certainly has some balls.
Thank you to all of you who contributed with advice and suggestions along the way. Special thanks to Modok and John (ACN) for your help.
Cheers! |
