So, I am the new owner of a 73 Thing. It has been sitting for 4 to 7 years. I have no brakes the pedal moves about 2 inches and stops. I wanted to bleed the brakes but the drivers front bleed prot is really close to the brake line and I'm worried about breaking things.
Am I looking at the best option with bleeding the brakes first? |

Welcome Texn1995, see it's your first post.
Get some spray "nut buster" liquid wrench, KanoKroil, etc and spray all the bleeders, line nuts, and keep em sprayed if you can wait a bit.
It took me 2 weeks to get the bleeders to break loose on an old bronco once, bout a hole can of liq wrench too.
This link sounds "similar" to your issue, but use the search theres a lot of stuff on the Samba about brakes.

But I'd think a line flush and bleed of the breaks is a good idea. may fix, may not but you got to start somewhere.
I had 2 rear frozen cyl's on my 73 but I cleaned them up with a wire wheel dremel and wd40, washed em out clean and then washed them with brake fluid and got em' working again.
But with my busted knuckle experiences, Time and keeping the parts sprayed can do wonders. spray em and give em time, then test, if no budge, spray and wait some more. If you hurry, damage to the parts and your knuckles may result!
Good luck with it and Welcome again to the Samba and let us know how it goes.
