Anyone know what the finish was originally? I just picked up a original kit used and the intakes were chrome, along with the valve covers and other bits. I am assuming someone had that done, so were they orognally just painted and if so what color? _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Original Okrasa intakes are generally bare cast aluminum. I know of one other Okrasa kit that was chromed from day one of installation. No one I know has been able to document that kit coming from Okrasa or Empi chromed versus being chromed by the first owner. _________________ https://instagram.com/mr.ogpaint

I've never seen a cast aluminum okrasa intake manifold, they are generally gas welded steel? painted a somewhat silver grey. _________________ drive your split. |

For sure they are steel. I assume then that they had a finish similar to the one on the wolfsburgwest reproductions? _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Here's an original 36hp Okrasa kit from the 1970's showing the finish on the intake manifolds. They appear to be clear cadmium plated with cosmoline applied.

Huge brain fart on my part, you guys are totally correct. I've been playing with some 32pbics on Porsche manifolds lately, my bad.
But, I have seen chromed steel Okrasa manifolds....but as stated, they were likely done by the original owner _________________ https://instagram.com/mr.ogpaint

Somewhere on this site I read that there was a business in California that was chroming the intakes, and other bits in their kits.
Mine are chrome too. _________________ http://www.cascadekombis.org/vintage-meet |
