I know there's an OG paint thread around here that you can post your factory paint, patina and rust included. Which is fine! But I want to also see some of your VWs that have been repainted to factory colors!

I'm a sucker for the Cobalt Blue.. Maybe because that was the original color of my 1970 Bug.... One day I plan on repainting it back to the factory color.... In the mean time, let's see some of your factory repaints!

Thanks!

Not factory colored yet, but that's the plan . . .

i want to return my '72 Westy to her original luster - (and get rid of the PO's rattle can finish). As near as I can tell by comparing VW paint chips to the door jams and other unmolested painted areas inside the cab, the original color was Texas yellow.

I'm curious about that, because it has slowly dawned on me that I don't think I've ever seen another one that color. The paint references that I've seen list it as a color for the Beetle in '72 but not the T2.

Did Westfalia have separate color schemes? Or does anyone have any insight into this?
Thanks!

Kevin

Westfalia used the same colors as the rest of the model line for the most part, the M code for Westfalia paint at the factory included painting the interior the same as the exterior, opposed to the grey or beige Kombi's usually were finished with inside. Some Euro models were available with 2 tone paint but North American versions wer monotone inside and out.

Your OG paint spec can be found on the M plate on the bulkhead behind the LF seat.
