The '66 and '67 bugs had a similar slotted wheel but the slots were shaped a little different |
Agree. Your wheels are copies of Porsche 356 A or B wheels with that style cooling slots, considered in the shape of the letter "D". '66 and '67 Beetle wheels's slots were shaped like a "sausage". I'd strongly guess that your wheels are 4.5" wide. The other commonly available width of those wheels is 5.5" which have a much more "deep dish" effect. Stock wheels for a '65 were 4.0" wide and had no slots at all, often called "smoothies". Sedan original wheels were painted with a black center adjacent to the hub cap, and cream or white/blue outer rim section depending on the original body color. A stock VW hubcap would also have the "VW" emblem stamped in it. Your emblemless hubcaps would be considered "baby moon" style. |

Hi. Your question can probably be answered by removing the hub cap and viewing the area around the lug bolt holes.
If Brazillian you might find the word Brazil or Mangells. These were the most popular replacements.
Hope this helps, Bill. |
Thanks Bill, I pulled the cap and can not find any markings at all. If I get a chance, I'll pull onemoff tomorrow and look at the inside. |

IIRC . . . my Magelles wheels are stamped on the wheel band . . . between the beads . . . the markings do not show when a tire is mounted! _________________ Jesucristo es mi Seņor y Salvador! |
