Following advice to not hard mount the radiator I got these isolators in. They have enough play I think I can install them without any modification.

Ive been wire wheeling and soda blasting everything, getting closer to paint.

New reman TRW steering box,

Took the trailing arms all apart/ cleaned and repacked wheel bearings.

And more cleaning/ prep to do!

Side note, I have been borrowing my buddies soda blaster he got from harbor freight. It works really well but has a huge design flaw/ cheap out on how you add the soda, you use a 1/2" hole at the top.

I made a slight modification...

So much nicer to use now!

So I learned a hard life lesson...

I wanted to paint the chrome torsion caps so I needed to strip them down. Google told me muriatic acid should do the trick... so I soaked them in an open bucket over night in my garage. Did the trick and the fumes also rusted every single piece of metal in my garage..... bender die, spare steel, razor blades, everything I had prepped for paint....EVERYTHING!

I was so mad I didn't take many pictures but here is one showing what was a perfectly clean brake rotor. I scrubbed everything with vinegar followed by backing soda. All parts are rust free but the frame now....

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Seemed to do the trick so well I was afraid they would rust quick so I took advantage of the weather and painted everything but the frame.

Everything turned out great, I cant wait to get the frame done but not looking forward to cleaning the rust off first...

Thanks, it's all MIG with a Millermatic 211 on 220V. The torsion horns came welded so I can't claim those but everything else...haha

Great job so far! I see that you used Kirker paints...I sprayed both epoxy primer and one stage urethane color paint on my sand rail using kirker and I was very happy with the results of the paint for the price. Have fun painting the frame...I never realized just how much work it was painting a rail frame. It seems I had to come up with a good plan of beginning low inside the frame and working my way out so that I didn't accidentally touch anything that was already painted.

Speaking of spraying the paint, how much of what did you go through for the chassis? I picked up a gallon of safety yellow oil based enamel and am hoping that it'll be enough for a couple coats when it comes time for a blast and paint.

I was able to lay down two coats of color and still have just a little left over for painting consoles and touch-up stuff from additional welding. I was able to do this with a Gallon. I doubt you could do a third coat with a gallon, but then again you might be able to squeeze it out. My old Chenowth has less framing than most of the builds I see today, so maybe that'll help gauge it a little.

Not much really, but it seemed to do fine. Fans rarely even kicked on.

Wow, good to know! At $10 for the gallon off the oops rack, maybe I should grab the other gallon if it's still there next time I visit...

Bluetooth sound system, speakers are under the windshield and it's all supposed to be weatherproof. It's definitely loud!
